| Founder and Former CEO of Sustainable Fuel Company Charged in Multimillion-Dollar Embezzlement Scheme A federal grand jury in Washington, DC, returned an indictment yesterday charging Bryan Sherbacow, the founder and former CEO of a sustainable fuel company, with embezzling at least $5.9 million from the company. Bryan Sherbacow allegedly engaged in a scheme to defraud the company he founded by fraudulently transferring company funds to a personal bank account and making unauthorized personal expenditures from a company bank account. | Medical Device Maker Stryker Faces New Bribery Concerns Medical-device maker Stryker disclosed an investigation by US authorities into potential violations of antibribery law, the third such probe into the company in the past decade. In a securities filing this week, the Kalamazoo, Mich.-based company said it was contacted by the US Justice Department and Securities and Exchange Commission and is cooperating with both agencies. | Royal Philips to Pay $62 Million to Settle China Bribery Probe Royal Philips, a Dutch medical supply company, has agreed to pay $62 million to resolve claims by regulators that it violated a US antibribery law by improperly manipulating Chinese procurement processes and influencing public officials at Chinese state-run hospitals. The Amsterdam-based company’s conduct in China violated the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. It had agreed to settle its claims without admitting to or denying the findings from its investigation. The settlement is the company’s second with the SEC over allegations of corrupt conduct abroad.
