| UK Charges Nigerian Ex-Oil Minister with Receipt of Bribes Prosecutors in the UK have charged Nigeria’s former minister for petroleum resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, for allegedly accepting cash, luxury holidays and private school fees in return for multi-million-pound oil and gas contracts. The National Crime Agency (NCA) said in March that the charges follow a thorough and complex international investigation that saw its officers work closely with Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. The agency did not say who allegedly gave the former official the bribes. | US Chamber Urges SEC to Delay Cyber Rule Implementation The US Chamber of Commerce urged the SEC to delay by a year the effective date of new cybersecurity rules, saying the current regulatory plan needs tweaks to avoid severe consequences for companies. Under the rules, which are set to go into effect on September 5th, public companies will need to disclose material cybersecurity incidents to the SEC within four days of such determination. | New York City Bans TikTok on Government-owned Devices Over Security Concerns New York City in August, banned TikTok on government-owned devices, citing security concerns, joining a number of US cities and states that have put such restrictions on the short video sharing app. TikTok posed a security threat to the city’s technical networks, the administration of New York City Mayor Eric Adams said. New York City agencies are required to remove the app within 30 days and employees will lose access to the app and its website on city-owned devices and networks.
